Reducing our Carbon Footprint

Our daily routines impact on the environment in many ways, but by reducing the amount of energy we use is the most effective way to save money and also combat climate change. By turning off the lights when leaving a room, not leaving the TV and Video on standby, having a shower instead of a bath which uses far less energy and water, we will help to slow the rate of climate change on our planet, by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2), and other harmful gases that enter the atmosphere.

One of the best methods to ensure our clients homes are more energy efficient is to insure they are properly Insulated, Nearly two thirds of the heat lost in a home is through the cavity walls and roof, when insulated could save 2402.75 kgs of CO2 a year.

At Court Home Extensions we have been helping our clients go that step further, saving money, energy and reducing  their CO2 emissions and their carbon foot print, showing the small changes that can help make a big difference, from;

Thermal boarding and Rockwool insulation installed to meet latest insulation guidelines

Only double glazed windows installed with New Low E-glass in windows

Installing thermostatic radiator valves

Energy efficient light fittings and bulbs

And all refuge from the construction of your extension is taken to a recycling plant where up to 85% of waste is recycled.

We only purchase PEFC / FSC certified timber; The PEFC Council (Programme for the Endorsement of  Forest Certification schemes) is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, founded in 1999 which promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification. The PEFC provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that  they are promoting the sustainable management of forestsThe Forest Stewardship Council enables you to buy forest  products of all kinds with confidence that you are not contributing to global forest destruction. FSC certified forests are managed to ensure long term timber supplies while protecting the environment

EPC From 1st October Energy Performance Certificates are required when renting or selling a property. They provide information about how energy efficient a property is on a scale of A-G, with band A being the most efficient. The higher the rating the more energy efficient the home is and the lower fuel bills will be.

The small changes we make during your conversion help enhance your properties rating, which makes
your property more favorable to future tenants.
